I feel like I got quite a bit done for such a broken up weekend but a lot of it doesn’t show. I finished getting the mount ready for the ceiling fan. Put up a few misc. pieces of trim. I put two coats of finish on the last 6 of the boxes for clothing storage. I sanded the bottom sides of both of my slabs and put 2 coats of varnish on the bottoms.

A couple of posts ago a friend, George Brewer, mentioned that he’d help me finish the slabs with Envirotex the way he finishes bar tops. I won’t turn down an offer like that so this week I’ll work on finish sanding the tops of both slabs so they’ll be ready when George has some time to help me.
I also picked up the base for my shower and got the drain plumbed and the base mounted.

I’m really enjoying following your progress, your house is amazing! I found your blog from the Tiny House Magazine in which Carol Ann wrote about your Ondura roofing. As I’m seriously considering this now for my TH, can you tell me your pros & cons about the roofing, now that you’ve had some time with it? Thank you!

Almost invariably the first comment I get from people when they see the house is “I love the roof.”.
As for pros and cons – the roofing was incredibly easy to install alone. The individual pieces are small and lightweight and it was actually fun to install. The shingles pretty much line themselves up so there is little chance for crooked lines. I’ve installed metal roofing a couple of times and this was much, much better. The only time I enlisted help with the roofing was installing the ridge cap…that required someone smaller and more agile than I am and, it was very nice to have one of us do the running and hauling to keep the roofer supplied while she worked her way down the length of the house.
I guess the big test will come when I finally move the house…how will the shingles handle the wind of driving down the highway. Hopefully I’ll find that out before the end of summer.

Terri – We didn’t step on the “bump” part of the shingle, only on the flat area between the “bumps”.
