Jordan & I finally started getting the new shop space ready.
The space that I’m using is a former goat barn that housed a hundred or so goats and the attached buildings.
The main portion of the barn is about 50′ long and 30′ wide, plenty of space to build my house…except that it’s built with trusses and it is only about 10’6″ high. So, I can construct floor and walls inside the barn during the winter and when spring arrives I’ll move it out and put up the roof. During any extra time this winter we can work on building our kitchen cabinets, loft ladder and other items in the warm shop.
One of the attached buildings has a nice large room where I’ll set up a shop with the necessary tools. We spent most of today getting the place cleaned out…it had been used for storage and was about half full of stuff.
Another attached room, the former milk handling room, will likely be set-up as a finish room for our cabinets and other finish work.
I’m expecting that the trailer will be delivered in about two weeks and we’re ready to get started…hopefully we’ll have the shop set up by then.
